DISTILLING PROCESS
  • Water

The water is taken from Loch Hempriggs, clean and soft, ideal for mashing and fermentation.

  • Distillation

Two large copper stills, the shape of which inspired the bottle design, and a traditional condenser.

  • Maturation

American and Spanish oak barrels in warehouses with a maritime climate shape the whisky's maritime character.

MARITIME Old Pultney

On the northernmost shores of Scotland, where the North Sea meets the coast of Caithness, there is a town — home to a whisky that conveys the very essence of its place.

The town of Wick, and we are Old Pulteney.

Why Old Pultney?

Old Pulteney single malt Scotch whisky is produced at the Pulteney distillery in the town of Wick, on the coast of northeast Scotland. We craft the whisky by hand and age it near the sea, which gives it a unique maritime character. Our history is inextricably linked to the sea and its bounty — to our maritime climate, community, heritage, and the spirit of a coastal home in Wick.
